A spectacular celebration of Victorian maximalism and Anglo-Japanese aesthetic crosscurrents, this rare set of six antique deep plates introduces a vibrant, rich narrative to high-end dining curation and wall displays.
Masterfully decorated in the highly coveted “Imari” palette—a hallmark of premier 19th-century British potteries—each plate features a mesmerizing and complex layout. The wide rim is enveloped in a deep, inky cobalt blue ground, illuminated by dense, hand-painted 22-karat gold floral scrolls and vibrant iron-red chrysanthemums. This dark border is punctuated by delicate octagonal and circular cartouches containing pastel green and pink botanical sprays. The inner sloping rim introduces a striking contrast with alternating panels of intricate gold fish-scale patterns over a warm terracotta ground. At the center of the crisp white well, a beautifully detailed, radiating gold rosette anchors the entire composition. Ideal for elevating an eclectic tablescape or displayed as a stunning, textured collection on a dining room wall, this set embodies the timeless allure of historical luxury ceramics.
