Rio round Coffee Table

The Cassina Rio Round Coffee Table, a masterpiece by Charlotte Perriand, is a unique fusion of functionality and artistry. Designed in 1962, with an expanded version crafted for the Japanese embassy in Paris in 1967, the Rio table is celebrated for its distinct aesthetic and meticulous craftsmanship. This black-stained oak table features a Marquiña marble top and is composed of six solid wood segments, each carved with a unique radius. These segments are thoughtfully offset, creating a striking, jagged edge that lends the table an organic, sculptural quality. At the center, a circular opening draws the eye, serving as a visual focal point and a metaphorical “center of gravity.” Cassina’s reissue faithfully captures Perriand’s original vision, maintaining the detailed construction that Meda’s artisans bring to life. The Rio Round Coffee Table is not merely a functional piece but a statement of refined design, ideal for interiors that value timeless beauty and cultural heritage.
